NEWS FLASH!! Jake finished his Master Hunter title on 7/31/11!!

Jake excels in the field. He got his Master title in five straight tests in 2010 and 2011. His trainer Larry Sonntag handled him for the first four tests, but was injured in 2011, so I handled him to the title! He did not need to be handled on a mark in that test, which is a good thing because I am terrible at remembering the falls and can’t help him much if he misses a mark. He got both his JH and SH in four straight tests. He failed three MH tests in 2009 when his training was marred by an inner ear infection that threw him off balance both physically and mentally and really seemed to affect his marking. In 2010 he qualified in all four tests he ran. Since finishing the title we have not qualified, mainly because of my porr handling, but we made it to the last series in our last test. Jake retains what he learns very well, is a good marker and has a great desire to please. His early problem with steadiness has disappeared under Larry’s training. Jake was started in his field work by his co-owner Sue Kiefer and is now being trained by Larry Sonntag of Salty Dog Farms who also put his SH title on him. I handled him to the JH, the WCX, and his Rally and obedience titles, which he attained with many placements, including two firsts. His top obedience score was 195.5. We will be training for the CDX this fall.

Jake has five points in conformation, all from the Bred By Exhibitor class. He usually places in his classes at specialties and he has been reserve to a major. His attendance at shows has been limited by his field training and by my policy of not attending shows when I have a litter at home.
